Some days my job is 90% calls, quotations, and “any update on this email?”
And 10% is me quietly typing “what is AI” into Google while waiting for a client to pick up. Because everyone’s talking about ChatGPT , Gemini, AI this, AI that. I tried asking it to write a follow-up email for me once. It sounded like a robot trying to sell marble to the moon. HR would’ve blocked me.
So here’s what I actually learned: AI can’t call UAE clients for you. It can’t chase quotations. It can’t drink chai between emails .But it can remind me that I’m not behind. We’re all just figuring it out one tab at a time.
Some days my job feels like this:8:30 AM → Open laptop.
9:00 AM → Call 3 UAE clients about quotations.
10:30 AM → Follow-up emails.
11:15 AM → Google “what is AI” because LinkedIn won’t stop talking about it. I tried ChatGPT to write a client email once. It gave me:
"Dear Valued Customer, we are thrilled to synergize your granite aspirations..."
Yeah… no. HR would’ve sent me home. Here’s the truth I found:
AI can’t call clients in Sharjah for you.
AI can’t chase a pending PO.
AI can’t save you when you’ve sent the quote to the wrong email. But it did remind me: We’re all just learning as we go. One call, one email, one “what is AI” search at a time.
